NZ - Getting there!

As promised guys here is the beginning of our trip to NZ!

Actually getting to NZ was a mission in itself. We were in Aus (travelling for 2months - thats another post or 3!) so only a short flight over. That went smoothly it was the lead up to it.

Firstly we were staying with friends and we and them were broke so we had planned to get to the airport by train and bus, estimating this would take us at least 2 hours - our flight was at 10 so we had to be on the train at 6 am! i hadnt seen that time of morning for a looooong time and was not looking forward to it. and as it being our last night we were planning on having a few lot of drinks. the friends we were staying with were some of joes really close school friends so we had to make it special.

the evening came around we were all cooking dinner and drinking wine goon, when Joe gets a call - all i could hear was the airline so i'm thinking oh how nice they are reminding us about our flight in the morning. NOPE, 'your flight has been cancelled'. oh brilliant. we can book you on one for the next day. ok? thanks. that was it! No apologies nothing.

So not much we could do apart from wait another day. at this point we were really running out of money so had to just hang out in the apartment and it was a really small one with no internet or tv, it was about an hour to the city too. so there we were just twiddling our thumbs waiting for the evening when we would have company.
evening comes around and Ash the GF of one of friends offered to take us to airport. result. sweet we will leave at 7 - that gives us an hour to get there.

Next morning, 7.20 and we still havent left! need gas and theres loadsa fricking traffic! trying not to panic when Ash says i'm not sure if we are going the right way! she had an i-phone dont they have EVERYTHING on there? well we eventually made it at 8.20, 20 minutes after our check-in. it'll be fine i say to joe, get in the airport and there was the biggest queue i'd ever seen for our desk. F, F, F.  standing patiently in line all the time muttering they wont let us on, we're going to have to book another flight. forgetting that our bags are prob overweight. reached the desk and decided if the baggage was overweight then i would just pay. they went on fine! not sure how we have managed to not pay at all as our bags have been overweight everywhere!

starting to chill out alot more as we are booked on and just gotta get through security. thinking this will be easy. you are leaving the country, they dont care. oh no, 2 sections you have to go through and you get asked questions! all i want to do is leave the bloody country! more queuing and been shouted at by a guy with a microphone telling us about the liquid requirements for hand luggage and we were through!

as we left so early we hadnt had any food. we had 30 mins to spare so decided that would be enough time to get some food to take on the plane. WRONG. 'do you want that toasted'? Me- 'how long will that take', oh 3 mins, Me - 'sure'. we were literally given the food - which we were sharing and hear and announcement, ding dong, can the remaining passengers on flight blah blah please immediately proceed to the boarding gate, the plane is full and waiting for you. so then we ran.

we were them people you see and think how the f can you be running for your flight you have 3 hours to get here. the sad thing is our food was cold. if we hadnt got it toasted we wouldnt have had to run&could have enjoyed it warm. haha.

we did get on the plane in time and made it to Auckland! I was so glad to see NZ!

V.tired but we made it!
